Payable is an payment operations platform who specialise in cash management and account reconciliation for small and mid-size businesses. Their initial reconciliation product was created with simple, hardcoded rules — allowing customers to reconcile transactions against common static attributes such as an account name, an amount, or reference.

Overview
Overview
Our challenge was to transform a manual, engineering-heavy process into something more elegant and intuitive. By rethinking how rules could be created and managed, we designed and launched an entire end-to-end automations feature. Using real customer data, we defined a scalable framework that fit multiple reconciliation use cases and gave customers the ability to create, observe and edit their entire reconciliation process.

Outcome
Outcome
The real measure of success in financial tooling isn't just in metrics — it's in how it transforms daily operations for businesses. Our solution fundamentally changed how Payable approached reconciliation, shifting it from a technical hurdle to an empowering capability. Reducing implementation time from 4 hours to 30 minutes, equalled an 8x improvement in efficiency. But more importantly, we created an experience that felt natural and enabling, where businesses could confidently manage their own reconciliation rules without compromise.
